Next Steps is an Adult Visual Novel about a teenage boy whose parents recently divorced and he moves from living with his overbearing mother to staying with his carefree father who's about to get remarried. Told from a third-person perspective, the story will share the thoughts and choices of several characters as the plot unfolds.

The first bug I come across is when Bobby is thinking of snooping. Something about "aaN not defined". Another error after the outside tanning "
SyntaxError: unexpected EOF while parsing (game/scripts/d03.rpy, line 3046)".
The first bug requires a fresh run of the game and not loaded from a previous save as it refers to content added to Day 1. The second error should be fixed in v0.03.1 which was just released on Patreon and will be public in March.

MEGA files 2.0GB or more don't load and/or play on my MacBookPro.
Since the final game is going to be extremely large, I decided not to bother trying to break the game up into 2GB chunks as there would just be way too many parts to it. If the game is listed here, it will also be listed publicly on Patreon, which will have alternate download options (If the problem is just with MEGA). If the issue is with installing the file, you can always try the web-version:

The problem is ONLY with MEGA. Or, the problem could be my own lack of knowledge (I'm 68.) I even had a paid subscription to MEGA and could not get that 2.0GB or more file problem to successfully load. Thank you for the alternate DL options!

Yes, there are several bugs in the v0.02 release. That's why it's marked as temporary. v0.02.1 has the fixes and is already available on patreon.
Hi I started playing the game and I like the story line and graphics used. What are the future tags of this game. Will u be including Gay/Pregnancy in the future.updates

The next update will include (path dependant) some female on female action. There currently is no male on male action but there might be in the future. For the father (Doug) it would probably require going down a cuckold path as the character is strictly heterosexual. For the son, (Bobby) there may be avoidable bi-curious options. Neither would be incorporated any time soon, however.
aaah i wish there was a path for doug as well because the options for a old-young pairing is quite rare. Will wait for the updates with bi-curious content

Thanks. I read an erotic story about a son who was interested in both his birth mother and step-mother. He played them off of each other, exaggerating what each one let him do in order to make the other jealous and progress further with him. I really liked this concept and it became one of the foundational elements of the story. I like the idea that no one choice can completely block a path, rather it's the collective choices that ultimately decide your fate. So the son will be able to choose between his mother or step-mother, both, or neither. If he chooses both, it's that same, playing them off one another strategy. That's why whenever you choose one or the other, it will increase your reputation with the one you choose and decrease the rep with the other, but the positive gain is always bigger than the loss, so if you keep flip-flopping between them, while it will take longer, you can max out both relationships.
good work, another point worth mentioning is the appearance of the biological mom, it brings an aesthetic in line with reality, and not something exaggerated from "MILF" like very large breasts, surreal bodies and etc, your art is more in line with real life, I find this "natural" appearance much more interesting

Thank you. Personally, I find it easy to get immersed in a story the more realistic it is. That's why I try to focus on photo-realism, all the characters in the story are unique custom models with relatively realistic proportions. I model all the characters off of real people.
Day 1 is complete and available via patreon right now. Expect a public release this weekend. Day 2 already in full swing.

Absolutely. The initial release was a beta version so it was incomplete. The full releases won't have missing pictures or animations (bugs aside).
Hi dev, when reading the part that this will be a multiple protagonist game I must ask, what are the planned tags for this game (?), and assuming that we have choices with several characters are the fetishes/kinks going to be avoidable(they don't happen according to player choice)skippable(they happen but the player doesn't see the scene)or maybe forced by plot?

Any included fetishes and kinks will be avoidable. As the player, you get to make choices on behalf of the Father, Son, and Step-mother. As far as what's planned, it will mostly involve younger/older age play with a heavy focus on voyeurism and exhibitionism, with multiple other fetishes thrown in as variations. Anything illegal, if done, would be done with a negative connotation attached to it. Each of the three playable characters will have relationship scores with the main characters in the game that will effect the responses and actions of the characters. Likewise, they will also have points for how confident and how horny they are. The more confident and/or horny, the more extreme their options may be for an overall risk/reward matrix. The next patch will have a stats page where you can monitor this.

At some point after meeting emily, I received an error around an image not being found. Followed by no images displayed, outside of the texting with Mikey
Yes, the current release does not have all of the images for Day 1 as I'm still working on them.
